• Long-time Educator, IT Academy Instructor Retires

    IT Academy instructor Scottie Clowdis retired from state service after a long and distinguished career in education. Scottie was one of the IT Academy's first instructors and also served as the Career Tech Academy's first IT instructor. SVHEC Executive Director Dr. Betty Adams presented her with a custom clock in appreciation of her dedication and commitment to SVHEC.

    The Career Tech Academy recognized Women's History Month by hosting a special event highlighting "Women in Technology." The event featured a panel of local, diverse women who have forged dynamic careers in information technology. Panelists (l-r): Holly Elliott, Kelly Shotwell, Diamon Barksdale, Marissa James, Takeita Hepburn, and Ashley Pedro. CTA-IT instructor Christie Hart (standing) coordinated the event and facilitated the panel discussion.

    SVHEC hosted the annual AspHIRE: Mock Interview Day with students from Brunswick, Charlotte, Halifax, and Mecklenburg Counties. SVHEC hosts this event annually in partnership with the Institute for Advanced Learning & Research.

This initiative aims to equip aspiring healthcare professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in ambulatory healthcare settings.
