The Workforce Credential Grant is designed to provide low-cost opportunities for students to receive training in a high demand field and receive an industry-based certification or state licensure.  The program was initiated in 2016 by the General Assembly. Training participants pay only 1/3 of the cost of the training program upon enrollment. Participants must successfully complete the training program in order to avoid paying an additional 1/3 of the cost.

How Do I Qualify for the Workforce Credential Grant?

  1. Meet the Virginia domicile (in-state residency) residency requirements as defined by the Code of Virginia §23-7.4. For more information on Virginia domicile, please refer to the in-state residency page on the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia's website.
  2. Be accepted and properly enrolled in an eligible SVHEC Workforce Training Program.
