On October 4th, Annin Flagmakers (South Boston, VA) hosted Career Tech Academy Year One students for a tour in honor of Manufacturing Day (MFG Day). Students were given a behind the scenes look at the local manufacturer, and had an opportunity to see how IT and Mechatronics impacts the business. Annin Flagmakers has been making the U.S. Flag since 1847 and has become known as the premier flag maker in the United States. The family owned company operates three manufacturing facilities in the United States, and employs over 500 people.

Manufacturing Day is celebrated annually on the first Friday in October, and helps show the reality of modern manufacturing careers by encouraging companies and educational institutions around the nation to open their doors to students, parents, teachers and community leaders.
