If you’re ready for a career in a growing field, the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC) is here for you. HVAC@SVHEC is a hands-on training program offering the skills and certifications needed for success. Trainees may earn their National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) CORE, NCCER HVAC Level 1 (residential), NCCER HVAC Level 2 (residential), EPA 608 Refrigeration, and OSHA 10 certifications.

In less than one year, we’ll prepare you to be a work-ready HVAC technician. Financial assistance is available.

  • Basic Maintenance
  • Refrigerants and Oils 
  • Compressors
  • Leak Detection, Evacuation, Recovery and Charging


HVAC@SVHEC training will prepare you for a variety of jobs, including:

  • HVAC Repair Technician
  • HVAC Installation Technician
  • HVAC Mechanic
  • HVAC Inspector
  • HVAC Helper

Program eligibility:

  • 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid form of ID
  • Attend one information session
