The SVHEC Board of Trustees welcomed new SVHEC executive director Dr. Charlette Woolridge at its March 26th meeting. Dr. Woolridge was formally introduced to the board by chairman Stanley Jeffress who stated “Dr. Charlette Woolridge is a seasoned executive with over 30 years of experience in public administration, governance, and community development.”

Dr. Woolridge expressed her enthusiasm to begin her tenure as executive director stating, “I am committed to this work of higher education, and I look forward to working with you as we take this organization to the next level.” As she concluded, Dr. Woolridge shared, “I would simply say let’s rock and roll–we can do this together. I only know how to work collaboratively so I look forward to working with everyone.”

During the meeting, the Board of Trustees recognized retiring executive director, Dr. Betty Adams with a resolution honoring her for 16 years of distinguished service, and announced the establishment of the Dr. Betty H. Adams Scholarship Fund through the Southern Virginia Higher Education Foundation.
