Dear SVHEC Community,
On Sunday, after watching the spread of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Virginia and NC counties surrounding the SVHEC, I made the decision to close the SVHEC until further notice. I felt this was necessary to keep our staff, partners and community safe.
This is very unsettling situation. Unlike snow days, when some of us -- including yours truly -- celebrate the opportunity to enjoy a day out of the office, this is different. Personally, I feel a sense of grief. It hurts to see the Center parking lot and buildings empty and dark. But, I know and I want you to know that this is only temporary. I am comforted by all the incredible work that is being done to secure operations and prepare those of us who can to work remotely.
I am so proud of how we have worked and continue to work together as a team to respond to these challenging circumstances. I look forward to resuming full operations and seeing everyone again. It will happen, and when it does, I think we are likely to have a renewed appreciation for each other and the work we are achieving together.
